The Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV is looking more and more likely for Australia, but now it appears a high-performance model is in the works.
New information and photos out of the US have all but confirmed a Cadillac Lyriq-V high-performance electric SUV is being developed, which could eventually make its way to Australia.
Drive first reported General Motors was looking to reintroduce the Cadillac brand to Australia with the Lyriq electric SUV, with a right-hand-drive prototype being spied in the US last month.
US website GM Authority has published photos claimed to show a Cadillac Lyriq-V is in testing with GM engineers in Detroit – as what would be the first battery-powered model in Cadillac’s V-Series performance line-up.

While the standard Lyriq can produce as much as 370kW and 610Nm in all-wheel-drive guise – allowing a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of less than five seconds – an earlier report from GM Authority claims the Lyriq-V will offer even higher levels of performance.
Based on the Lyriq Sport model (above), the V-Series variant is said to be coming with a unique front end, side skirts, and rear bumper, complemented by piano black accents throughout, mirroring its V-Series stablemates.
Despite the mounting evidence, General Motors is yet to confirm whether the Cadillac Lyriq will be sold in Australia through its GMSV dealer network.
However, if the standard Lyriq is introduced, there is a chance – given Australia’s long love affair with performance cars – the Lyriq-V may eventually be sold in local showrooms.
