Leaked images show bold new look for the 2024 Kia Sorento

Images of the 2024 Kia Sorento have appeared online in the past few hours, confirming a refreshed cabin and a revised exterior design for the seven-seat SUV.

The 2024 Kia Sorento is set to adopt the brand’s bold new design language, thanks to a number of leaked images posted online.

The first shadowy photo, which appears to be an official teaser from Kia – posted on Instagram by user ‘@jung_young_teak‘ – appears to match camouflaged spy shots of the upcoming Sorento, first seen in August 2022.

Within hours of the teaser leaking, South Korea’s Shorts Car posted additional leaked promotional photos confirming the Sorento’s new look.

The T-shaped daytime-running lights align the Sorento with electric Kia EV9, while also echoing elements of the smaller electric EV5, as well as the new-look Kia Picanto city hatch due later this year.

The rear-end has been mildly revised, with the dual light clusters on each side now connected at the top, while the lower lower bumper valance has been given a cleaner design.

Changes will continue inside, with the Sorento swapping its 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen for what appears to be a 12.3-inch version, which now takes up space previously reserved for the centre air vents.

The infotainment screen is now on a continuous pane with the digital instrument cluster – an updated design from the model currently sold – providing an ultra-wide screen stretching across the dashboard.

Purportedly leaked specification details of the updated Kia Sorento have also emerged online, showing overseas models will continue with the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder, 2.5-litre non-turbo four-cylinder, and 1.6-litre hybrid four-cylinder engines.

There’s a good chance Australian buyers will continue to be offered a 3.5-litre petrol V6 and 1.6-litre plug-in hybrid engines, however nothing has been locked-in at this early stage.

The leaked images suggest the 2024 Kia Sorento is close to being officially revealed by the brand, though local specifications aren’t likely to be known until closer to its Australian debut.
