Alpine’s tribute to 100 years of racing at Le Mans revealed with celebratory livery.
Alpine has introduced a special edition of the A110 R to commemorate a century of racing at Le Mans.
Named the A110 R Le Mans edition, only 100 vehicles will be manufactured as the current generation of this sports car comes to a close.
Locally, the Alpine A110 was removed from showrooms in November 2021 due to its inability to meet the more stringent ADR 85 side-impact crash protection regulations.
Retaining the A110 R same powerful 221kW 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds, the primary focus of the Le Mans edition model lies in its aesthetic enhancements rather than performance improvements under the hood, although there are tweaks to suspension.
The special edition boasts a distinctive white and blue livery that runs along the entire length of the car, adorned with Le Mans decals that pay tribute to the renowned race.
Carbon fibre is used for the wheels as well as various panels such as the bonnet, roof, and rear window plates, reducing overall weight. Some elements, including the rear wing, have been designed to enhance downforce.
Drawing inspiration from Alpine’s A480 Le Mans hypercar, the special edition incorporates a small shark fin ahead of the rear wing, although it remains uncertain whether this feature improves the car’s aerodynamic performance.
Beneath the surface, the A110 R Le Mans edition retains the R model’s adjustable suspension with stiffer roll bars, Eibach springs, ZF dampers, and grippier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.
Alpine claims to have optimised the hardware for enhanced performance during high-speed cornering, akin to the demanding corners found at Le Mans.
The interior of the A110 R Le Mans reflects the stripped-back ambiance of the standard R model, featuring carbon fiber bucket seats, Sabelt harnesses, and suede trim. Each of the 100 examples produced will be marked with a metal plaque indicating its unique build number.
Additional nods to Le Mans include stitched headrest logos and an engraved map of the track on the sun visors.
