As the must-watch media-dynasty TV drama continues, we spot some sneaky product placement in the background of the fictional media company offices. No spoilers!
The fourth and final season of the HBO streaming series Succession is nearing its dramatic conclusion, and while we’ve previously noted regular use of a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ shot of a Lucid Air within the show’s primarily New York-based narrative, the most recent episode takes place in the offices of the show’s fictional television news network on the eve of a fictional US election, an environment that doesn’t lend itself to much automotive content.
Or so you’d think…
In some early scenes, a commercial for the forthcoming Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV can be seen running on some monitors in the background of a meeting room. You can see the cabin fly-through and (reflected) end-frame with the Mercedes-Benz logo in this commercial:
Later in the episode, some more car footage is seen for an extended period, running on a screen behind Australian actress Sarah Snook (Shiv Roy).
This isn’t a regular commercial, however, and is the official B-roll footage of the Polestar 3 SUV.
The Scandinavian electric vehicle isn’t shown in focus, but the stylish lines of the car and the rugged landscape of the Canary Islands are hard to miss!
Due to arrive in Australia in early 2024, the Polestar 3 is a dual-motor electric SUV with a claimed range of up to 610km from its 107kWh battery pack. The standard car delivers 360kW and 840Nm whereas the optional performance pack steps this up to 380kW and 910Nm.
Pricing starts from $132,900 before options and on-road costs. Read the full breakdown of the Polestar 3 price and specification here.
Australian and North American Polestar 3 cars will initially be built in China, but from mid-2024, US-market cars will be built at the Volvo factory in North Carolina.
