It didn’t work in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and now police have smashed a group allegedly attempting to wind back the clocks of used cars.
Queensland Police have charged a man for allegedly tampering with the odometer of used cars.
Detectives from the Major Organised Crime Squad executed search warrants at four addresses in Brisbane’s south, locating 115 vehicles – many of which allegedly had their odometers wound back.
One vehicle allegedly showed zero kilometres on the clock.
Police allege the syndicate purchased used cars before tampering with the odometers so they appear to have travelled fewer kilometres.
A 38-year-old has been taken into custody and charged with 26 offences, including six counts of fraud (dishonestly gain benefit/advantage), two counts of attempted fraud, and forgery, among others.
