Subaru has released a wave of new special editions to celebrate its 50th anniversary in Australia, with extra equipment, new badges and mild design changes.
Subaru Australia has introduced three special editions based on the 2023 Subaru Forester family SUV, Outback wagon and WRX sports sedan and wagon to mark its 50th anniversary.
The five special editions for Forester, Outback and WRX cost $500 to $1700 more than the variants on which they are based, and add unique trim or luxury features from dearer model grades.
The vehicles are available to order now, through Subaru Australia’s website.
All five special editions add 50 Years Edition badges, while four of the five add a black finish to exterior design elements such as the badges, wheels, grille or mirror caps.
The Forester editions are based on the base-model 2.5i and top-of-the-range petrol 2.5i-S, the WRX editions are based on the entry-level variants, and the Outback 50 Years Edition is based on the flagship turbocharged Touring XT model.
The WRX special editions – which cost $1200 to $1700 more than standard versions – add the most features, such as Ultrasuede seat upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, blue contrast stitching, and suede-look dashboard and door trim inserts.
It is unclear how many examples of the 50 Years Editions will be available. Drive has contacted Subaru Australia for more information.
While the Forester and WRX editions are offered in a number of colours, the Outback AWD Touring XT 50 Years Edition is finished solely in the Geyser Blue paint colour from the US-market Outback Wilderness.
This colour is not available on any other Subaru Outback model in Australia.
