2023 Mitsubishi Outlander petrol and PHEV prices rise by $1000

Mitsubishi Australia has increased the price of petrol and plug-in hybrid Outlander SUVs by $1000, attributed to higher manufacturing and shipping costs.

Prices of the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander PHEV (plug-in hybrid) have gone up by $1000 – the fourth price rise in nearly two years.

The latest price rise for the petrol-powered Outlander and the plug-in hybrid Outlander PHEV – which came into effect on 1 April 2023 – is attributed to rising production and shipping costs, and does not correlate to any specification changes.

It means the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV’s price has increased by up to $2500 in 10 months – and the petrol Outlander’s list price has risen by up to $4500 since it launched 21 months ago.

It follows price increases between $250 and $1500 in December 2022, which coincided with minor equipment upgrades for the certain model grades of Mitsubishi’s most popular SUV.

The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander line-up is now priced from $37,240 plus on-road costs in ES 2WD five-seater guise – up $2750 from its launch price of $34,490 in August 2021 – while the cheapest all-wheel-drive variant now starts from $39,740 plus on-road costs.

The latest round of price rises has also pushed the flagship petrol Mitsubishi Outlander Exceed Tourer seven-seater to $54,490 plus on-road costs – a $4500 increase compared to its $49,990 launch price.

The cheapest Outlander plug-in hybrid variant is priced from $56,490 plus on-road costs – up $1900 compared to its August 2022 launch price of $54,590.

The range-topping Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Exceed Tourer seven-seater has also become the first Outlander variant to break $70,000, now starting from $70,990 plus on-road costs – a $2500 increase on its launch price less than a year ago.

The Mitsubishi Outlander was Australia’s sixth best-selling new car in April 2023, while its year-to-date sales place it seventh – behind SUV rivals such as the Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-5.
