2017-2023 Jeep Compass recalled in Australia because the tow rating label is wrong

A labelling error on the Jeep Compass could lead owners to tow more than the approved maximum weight, according to the recall notice.

Jeep has recalled 451 examples of the Jeep Compass SUV in Australia – sold from 2017 to 2023 – citing a labelling error with, with towing placards in the driver’s door that may overstate the vehicle’s official maximum towing capacity.

The recall applies to all variants of the current generation Jeep Compass on sale in Australia since September 2017.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The towing capacity labels found on the driver’s side door and tow bar do not match the approved maximum capacities listed in the owners manual.”
