Looking for a unique Toyota LandCruiser, but not sure which era would work best in your driveway?
Introducing the 1998 Toyota LandCruiser PX10, a mid-wheelbase 70-Series with unique rear quarter windows, a 4.2-litre 1HZ six-cylinder diesel, and the nose of a classic FJ40 LandCruiser.
Just 800 were made, in your choice of black or (a very Australia Post-looking) red with a contrasting white roof.
The 1990s saw Japan somewhat fixated on neo-classic design, with the era spawning many interesting machines like the Subaru Casa Blanca, Mitsubishi Pajero Flying Pug and Nissan Rasheen. The PX10 is the LandCruiser’s toe in the water, predating the retro-inspired FJ-Cruiser by eight years.
This one, red with a white roof and matching wheels over a pale yellow interior, is offered for sale by Japanese Importer, Nippon2U.
With just over 132,000km on the clock, full books, automatic transmission and a 3.5 (out of six) auction rating, it’s a little rough but represents a very unique buying opportunity. The importer estimates it would cost about $45,000 (landed and complied) in Australia, which is almost double what you’d pay for a regular BJ73, but hey, it sure is different!
We’ve never seen one of these in the metal, so would love to see another rare machine end up on local shores. You’d certainly attract a crowd at the next cars-and-coffee meet!
