2023 Haval H6 Hybrid price and specs: Cheaper Lux variant arrives in Australia

The Haval H6 Hybrid line-up now includes the ‘Lux’ variant, offering a more affordable entry into the Chinese car-maker’s electrified SUV range.

  • 2023 Haval H6 Hybrid pricing and specifications
  • New Lux grade undercuts existing Ultra variant
  • Lesser equipped for $3500 discount
  • Priced from $42,490 drive-away

Haval – the SUV sub-brand of Chinese car-maker Great Wall Motors – has expanded its Australian line-up of hybrid vehicles with the H6 Hybrid Lux arriving in local showrooms – more than a year after the company confirmed the electrified SUV was on the cards.

The Haval H6 Hybrid was launched in 2022 with a sole model grade – the Ultra, priced from $45,990 drive-away – but now a more affordable variant is available, with the Lux grade joining the hybrid line-up.

Priced from $42,490 drive-away, the Haval H6 Hybrid Lux is $3500 less than the better-equipped H6 Hybrid Ultra, though it incurs a premium of $5500 compared to the solely petrol-powered H6 Lux.

The Haval H6 Hybrid Lux is also the model’s first variant to undercut the popular Toyota RAV4’s hybrid variants, which start from $44,770 drive-away in GX guise when using a Sydney postcode.

The Haval H6 Hybrid Lux is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 130kW electric motor – identical to the H6 Hybrid Ultra – which are paired with a two-speed automatic transmission to drive the front wheels.

Haval quotes combined outputs of 179kW and 530Nm – up 29kW and 210Nm on the non-hybrid H6 variants – with a claimed fuel consumption of 5.2L/100km on 91 octane unleaded petrol.

While the Haval H6 Hybrid Lux retains elements of the Hybrid Ultra’s exterior design – including a unique front grille, rear centre brake lights and ‘HEV’ (hybrid electric vehicle) badging – the majority of its equipment is carried over from the petrol-powered H6 Lux.

This includes 18-inch wheels, ‘Comfort-tek’ faux leather seats (with first-row heating), a 10.25-inch digital dash, 10.25-inch infotainment screen (with wired Apple CarPlay/Android Auto), an eight-speaker sound system and anti-glare rear view mirrors.

Haval is yet to provide photos of the new H6 Hybrid Lux.

As reported in June 2022, the entire Haval H6 line-up – including hybrid variants – are sold with five-star safety ratings, issued last year by independent safety body ANCAP.

Haval’s Australian model line-up is also backed by a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, with five years of complimentary roadside assistance and capped price servicing.

The Haval H6 Hybrid’s 1.8kWh battery is covered by an eight-year warranty.

The Haval H6 Hybrid Lux is now on sale in Australia.
