2023 Ford F-150 price and specs: US top-selling pick-up to start from $106,950

The Ford F-150 is due in Australian showrooms from July 2023, expanding the choice of US pick-ups for local buyers.

  • 2023 Ford F-150 pricing and specifications
  • Orders open for XLT and Lariat variants
  • Powered by 298kW/678Nm twin-turbo V6 petrol engine
  • Priced from $106,950 plus on-road costs

The Ford F-150 pick-up is now available to order ahead of expected Australian showroom arrivals from July 2023.

Priced from $106,950 plus on-road costs, the Ford F-150 has taken aim at the top-selling US pick-ups in Australia, undercutting the latest Ram 1500 Laramie DT Series (from $127,950) and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ (from $121,000).

In the US pick-up class in Australia, only the older “classic” Ram 1500 DS Series is cheaper – from $85,950 plus on-road costs.

Ford Australia has confirmed four variants of the F-150 will be converted from left- to right-hand-drive in Melbourne by Thailand-based firm RMA Group –  all powered by the same 3.5-litre, twin-turbo V6 petrol engine (298kW/678Nm) paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive.

The Ford F-150 XLT short wheelbase (SWB) opens the local line-up priced from $106,950 plus on-road costs – while the long wheelbase (LWB) Ford F-150 XLT incurs a $995 premium, starting at $107,945.

A pair of better-equipped Ford F-150 Lariat grades will also be available to order, priced from $139,950 (SWB) and $140,945 (LWB) – a $33,000 increase compared to the equivalent XLT models.

The Ford F-150 SWB measures 3683mm between its front and rear axles and is fitted with a 1676mm (or 5.5-foot) ute tub. The wheelbase of F-150 LWB variants increases to 3987mm which allows Ford to fit a 1981mm (6.5-foot) ute tub.

Standard features in the Ford F-150 XLT include halogen headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, chrome front and rear bumpers, a tailgate (with flexible step and work surface) plus spray-in bedliner.

Inside, the pick-up is equipped with Ford’s ‘Sync 4’ 8.0-inch infotainment system – providing wired and wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto and satellite navigation – plus an 8.0-inch digital dash, power-adjustable front seats and dual-zone climate control.

Stepping up to the Ford F-150 Lariat adds a chrome exterior appearance package, LED front and rear lights, a dual sunroof, heated and cooled front seats, 12-inch infotainment and digital dash displays, as well as an 18-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system.

While the F-150 Lariat is equipped with radar cruise control (with stop and go), the F-150 XLT is fitted with a conventional cruise control system.

Safety equipment across the Ford F-150 range in Australia includes six airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), a rear view camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring (with cross-traffic alert and trailer tow coverage) and lane-keeping assistance.

The Ford F-150 Lariat builds on the standard safety tech by adding front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, lane centering, speed sign recognition, evasive steering assist and AEB junction assist.

Powering the Ford F-150 is a 3.5-litre, twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, developing up to 298kW and 678Nm which is delivered to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Ford claims the F-150 can tow up to 4500kg – on par with the Silverado 1500 and Ram 1500 when fitted with a 70mm ball – though the car-maker is yet to announce details regarding the pick-up’s payload capacity and GVM.

According to Ford, the first examples of the F-150 which will be sold in Australia were built in Dearborn, Michigan last month, ahead of their arrival in Melbourne for re-manufacturing.

Ford says the first batch of 2023 Ford F-150 pick-ups is due to arrive in Australian showrooms between July and September 2023, pending any delays.
