The Australian distributor of Peugeot vehicles is searching for 11 vans that have been recalled due to a fire hazard.
Peugeot Australia has recalled 11 of its diesel-powered Expert vans for a fuel line fault that spark a fire.
A spokesperson for Peugeot Australia told Drive there had been no known instances of the fault occurring in a vehicle in Australia. However it is understood a number of instances have been detected overseas.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to an assembly-line (fault), the fuel pipe installation may not meet manufacturing specifications and could become damaged due to movement between the pipe, the body and the protective cover.
“If left un-repaired, this may result in diesel fuel leaking from the damaged pipe which could result in a vehicle fire.”

Peugeot Australia said it will contact owners to get their vehicles to a dealership for inspection and rectification.
“The rectification consists of an initial inspection for any damage to the fuel pipe and then, if necessary, a replacement or the fitment of a protection sheath around the fuel pipe to help prevent damage,” a Peugeot spokesperson told Drive.
“Depending on the outcome of the initial inspection, the check and rectification procedure can take between approximately 0.2 hours (12 minutes) and 2.2 hours.”
