Tesla’s popular Model 3 has been recalled due to a seat belt buckle and anchor reinstallation fault in cars which have had certain services carried out.
Tesla has recalled 326 examples of its 2017-2022 Tesla Model 3 in Australia, due to a seat belt buckle and anchor installation fault.
The fault affects examples of the Model 3 built by Tesla between 2017 and 2022.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to the vehicle design, servicing certain components requires disassembly of the second row left seat belt buckle and centre seat belt anchor, both of which are fastened with the same bolt.
“During servicing, it is possible the seat belt buckle and anchor may have been re-assembled to the fastening bolt incorrectly. As a result, the seat belt may not operate as intended.
“In the event of an accident, a seat belt not operating as intended could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupant.”

From January to October 2022, Tesla reported 8680 Model 3s as sold in Australia, with the electric-car giant facing production delays at its Chinese factory throughout the year.
