The BMW M division’s first standalone model in more than 40 years is set to be uncovered in a fortnight.
The 2023 BMW XM is set to make its global debut on September 28, becoming the first standalone model from BMW’s M division in more than 40 years.
Confirmed by BMW USA in a video posted to YouTube, the flagship XM SUV will be revealed on September 28 at 8am AEST after months of previews and leaks.
The 25-second video includes a brief soundbite of the BMW XM revving its twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, which will be assisted by plug-in hybrid technology for claimed outputs of 480kW and 800Nm.
Earlier this month, patent images of the BMW XM surfaced online, showing minimal changes from the XM concept revealed in November 2021.
However, a new set of photos showing a BMW XM in camouflage have appeared on Instagram, taken by ‘Sternie’ (@___sternie___) and shared by spy photographer Wilco Blok (@wilcoblok).
In the California town of Malibu, the BMW XM was spied in a public car park, with its custodian hastily applying a car cover to the SUV while the family unloaded their equipment.
Underneath the camouflage we can see a blue paint – which reports suggest may be BMW M’s Marina Bay Blue – which is paired with a blue leather interior.
As previously reported, the concept’s stacked twin exhaust tips look set to carry across to the production model.
