2023 Citroen C5 X initial details for Australia

The new Citroen C5 X will be sold in one well-equipped model grade – but its price is yet to be confirmed.

Initial specifications for the 2023 Citroen C5 X large car have been revealed, ahead of first Australian showroom arrivals before the end of this year.

The first large Citroen passenger car in Australia in six years, the C5 X – which blends sedan, wagon and SUV body styles – will be offered in Australia in a single Shine model grade, powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.

Full prices and specifications are yet to be announced, however Citroen Australia has confirmed today these will include Paloma leather seat upholstery, a panoramic sunroof and, if the company’s website is a guide, 19-inch wheels and LED headlights.

Six colours will be available – Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Amazonite Grey, Nera Black, Magnetic Blue and Pearl White – all with a black contrast roof as standard.

The car’s 1.6-litre turbocharged engine develops 133kW and 250Nm, with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The plug-in hybrid available overseas will not be offered in Australia.

Prices are yet to be confirmed, but if overseas prices are a guide, expect the C5 X Shine to cost about $55,000 plus on-road costs, or close to $60,000 drive-away.

The 2023 Citroen C5 X is due in Australian showrooms between October and December 2022. Stay tuned to Drive for more details as the launch approaches.
