BMW’s long-awaited M3 Touring is due to arrive in Australia early next year, with an $8000 price premium over the sedan.

- Priced from $177,500 before on-road costs
The 2023 BMW M3 Touring – the name given to the wagon variant sold alongside the coupe and sedan – is due in Australian showrooms early next year, and now the German car-maker has locked-in local pricing and features for its long-awaited performance five-door.
Revealed in June 2022, the M3 Touring is the first wagon from BMW’s high-performance M division to be sold in Australia, after local buyers missed out on the limited-run M5 Touring built from 2007 to 2010.
The BMW M3 Touring is priced from $177,500 plus on-road costs, making it $8000 more expensive than the equivalent sedan.
BMW’s M3 Touring is also $21,300 more than the Audi RS4 Avant, its German performance wagon rival. While Mercedes-AMG revealed its new C63 earlier this week, a wagon variant is reportedly not planned.
As with the flagship four-door BMW M3, the Touring will be sold exclusively in Competition xDrive guise – pairing the ‘S58’ 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline six-cylinder petrol engine with an all-wheel drive system and eight-speed automatic transmission.
Producing up to 375kW and 650Nm, BMW claims the M3 Touring can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds, taking 12.9 seconds to reach 200km/h from a standstill.
The BMW M3 Touring is electronically limited to a top speed of 250km/h, however buyers who opt for the $17,500 M Carbon Experience package can have this increased to 280km/h.
Additional inclusions in the M Carbon Experience package include M Carbon bucket seats (reducing the car’s weight by 9.6kg), carbon fibre interior and exterior trim plus two vouchers to the BMW Driving Experience’s advanced courses.
As with the recently-updated 3 Series range, the M3 Touring is equipped with BMW’s new iDrive 8 dashboard, which includes a 14.9-inch central touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital instrument display incorporated into a single curved panel.
The iDrive 8 system includes features such as wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio and Bluetooth connectivity.
Additional interior equipment includes a Harmon Kardon sound system, three-zone automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charging and a head-up display.
The BMW M3 Touring’s electrically adjustable and heated front sports seats, rear seats, centre console, door cards and lower dashboard are upholstered in Merino leather trim – available in four colours.
Compared to the existing BMW M3 sedan, the M3 Touring’s 500-litre boot capacity provides a 20 litre increase with the rear seats up. When the 40:20:40 split second row is folded down, its capacity increases to 1510 litres – identical to the Audi RS4 Avant.
The BMW M3 Touring is equipped with an automatic powered tailgate and separately opening rear window, allowing two ways to access the boot.
Safety features carried across from the 3 Series and existing M3 line-up includes auto high beam LED headlights, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking assistant plus, front cross-traffic alert and lane centring assist.
