2021 Volkswagen Polo recalled because the rear spoiler could fall off

A total of 331 Volkswagen Polos are being recalled because the rear spoiler could detach whilst driving, posing a danger to those behind.

Volkswagen Australia has recalled 331 examples of its 2021 Volkswagen Polo city car because the rear spoiler could detach whilst driving, causing a potential road safety hazard for other traffic.

The Volkswagen-supplied list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) confirms the defect relates to the 2021 Volkswagen Polo 70TSI Trendline, 85TSI Comfortline and 85TSI Style models, leaving the Polo GTI unaffected by the recall.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a manufacturing issue, the roof spoiler may not have been bonded correctly and could become loose and detach from the vehicle.”
