Lego’s new Optimus Prime kit revealed in leaked images

Lego’s latest kit allows Transformers fans to recreate the franchise’s truck-turned-robot hero in the comfort of their own lounge rooms.

Lego fans have been given their first glimpse of the company’s upcoming Optimus Prime kit, courtesy of leaked images believed to detail the toy maker’s latest collaboration.

The set is based on the robot hero of the popular Transformers franchise and is expected to number 1508 pieces in total, with a rumoured price point of $US169.99.

The leaked images – which were published and then removed by fan site The Brothers Brick, before resurfacing elsewhere – show the finished kit is able to easily convert from truck to robot form, just like its namesake.

The photos also suggest the kit will also come with character-appropriate props including an Ion Blaster, the Energon Axe, the Allspark, a jetpack and a mini collectors’ display plaque.

The Optimus Prime kit is due in stores in June 2022 and will be Lego’s first foray into the Transformers world, after previously tackling characters from other major movie franchises like Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy and Fast and Furious.

Lego is yet to release any official details other than a short teaser video confirming the kit will arrive next month.

For keen Transformers fans, it’s worth noting the Lego version of the Autobot is based on the first-generation iteration of Optimus Prime and not the version featured in the upcoming Rise of the Beasts film due in cinemas in 2023.
