2022 Ford Everest Buyers Guide

Here’s our guide to navigating the variants and options on offer with the 2022 Drive Car of the Year Best Large Offroad SUV

Although it’s not the newest on test, the Ford Everest was able to overcome younger competition to win its segment – large off-road SUV – in the 2022 testing of Drive Car of the Year.

It’s clear that the Australian engineering and development – work which also underpins the Ranger ute – places the Everest in such good stead. It’s got the best balance of off-road ability and on-road poise, packaged up in a seven-seat format that will work well for families on the daily grind.

Capability might not be the absolute best in the segment. However it’s still very good, and plenty good enough for the vast majority of users. But the main strength is the overall poise and comfort, which is apparent on town and highway driving.

Don’t forget, it was good enough for the Everest to win overall Drive Car of the year in 2015.

The range starts with the mostly basic Ambiente range, which is available both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive ($55,090). Titanium is the most expensive in the range ($73190) with bigger wheels, and sunroof and tricked-out interior. The range has also been further bolstered by the popular (and now permanent) Sport variant.

We reckon Trend – smack-bang in the middle –is the smart buying of the range. It’s got the right mix of important equipment ticked and is available with either the 3.2-litre ($62,890) and more powerful 2.0-litre ($64,390) powertrains.
