Ultra-rare Bugatti EB112 sedan prototype offered for sale

This little-known Bugatti EB112 four-door prototype is just one of three built, and it could be yours.

If you’ve ever fantasised about the concept of a four-door Bugatti for you and the family, this one-of-three 2000 Bugatti EB112 prototype – which has surfaced for sale – should pique the interest.

German high-end car dealership Schaltkulisse is offering the second of three EB112 prototypes for sale – a stillborn model with unconventional design incorporating a flattened nose and an accentuated hatchback.

The four-door design was commissioned by the then-Italian-owned Bugatti to Giorgetto Giugiaro in the early 1990s. The EB112 was unveiled at the 1993 Geneva Motor Show and just one car was built before the marque encountered financial troubles under its Italian ownership. An extra two chassis were created before the ordeal, but it wasn’t until the year 2000 that the final touches were put on this car, chassis #39002.

Following the sale of Bugatti to the Volkswagen Group in 1995, the Monaco Racing Team finished the two extra prototypes; this car was delivered new to a Swiss Bugatti dealership.

Unlike its contemporary EB110 supercar stablemate which utilised a quad-turbo V12, under the bonnet of the EB112 is a naturally-aspirated 6.0-litre V12 generating 335kW/649Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.

The car in question is believed to be a one-owner example, has featured in many classic car shows, and shows a mere 3900km on the odometer.

No price is listed against the incredibly rare vehicle, but we’d imagine you’d need a blank cheque in order to acquire the one-of-three four-door EB112.
