The Ford Mustang has had a brief reprieve from its sustained sales slide, with the Mach 1 limited edition contributing to a momentary spike. Sales have largely been in freefall after reaching a peak in Australia four years ago. But limited editions such as the Bullitt, R Spec and, now, the Mach 1, have helped drive a modest recovery. Sports cars and muscle cars tend to have a short shelf life and demand tapers after the initial hype subsides.
