2018 Volkswagen Polo recalled for towing eye fix

Volkswagen Australia has recalled the 2018 model-year Polo, over fears the welding on the included towing eye could fail under duress.

According to the company, the towing eye in the vehicle tool kit could tear when force is exerted on it. If it does tear, the towrope could sling back and injure people standing nearby.

A total of 2611 cars are affected by the recall. A VIN list is attached here.

Volkswagen will contact owners by mail, and advise them to get in touch with their dealer for an inspection. Concerned owners can also contact 1800 607 822 for more information.
