Local details for the updated 2018 Audi RS3 Sportback have been revealed, with the new hyper hatch to kick off from $80,900 before on-road costs.
Slotting under the related RS3 sedan in terms of price ($84,900), the RS3 Sportback features the same 294kW/480Nm 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo and quattro all-wheel drive system.
Also shared with the sedan is the seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission, which makes for a 0-100km/h time of 4.1 seconds – matching its three-box counterpart.
Interestingly, fuel economy is slightly different between the two body styles, with the Sportback claiming a marginally higher 8.4L/100km compared to the sedan’s 8.3L/100km.
Standard specifications appear to largely replicate those of the sedan, with highlights including 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital driver’s instruments, LED headlights with LED daytime-running lights, heated front seats, nappa leather trim, along with MMI Navigation Plus with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other highlights include an RS sports exhaust, DAB+ digital radio along with driver assistance technologies like autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, blind-spot assist, lane assist and rear cross-traffic assist.
Myriad options will be offered in typical luxury brand fashion, including several packages and numerous extra-cost standalone items.
Some of these include the RS Performance package ($5900) – adding a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, carbon-fibre interior trims, different 19-inch alloy wheels, and Audi magnetic ride adaptive dampers – and the RS Design package ($1950) which brings extra kit like coloured seatbelts and special floor mats.
Other options available include Audi’s LED Matrix headlights ($1690), premium paint ($1495-$2015), a panoramic sunroof ($2535) and a carbon-fibre engine cover ($1170).
