Ford Australia has recalled 5655 2015/16 Rangers with a manual gearbox, over concerns a faulty gearshift clip could lead to a loss of drive.
According to the company, the gearshift cable retaining clip might not be properly fastened, which could put it into contact with the rear driveshaft.
Prolonged contact between the clip and driveshaft can damage both components, making it harder for drivers to change gear and, in the worst case, a loss of drive.

Thus far, there are no reported failures resulting from the issue. A list of affected VIN numbers can be found here.
Ford will write to owners, and advise them to contact their Ford dealership for inspection and a fix, if required. Concerned owners can call 1800 503 672 for more information.
