2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter teased in new sketch

The next-generation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van has been teased ahead of its debut next year.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the new van’s design “once again shifts the boundaries of its segment” with thin, pulled back headlights, and a sporty, aggressive look for the grille and front bumper.

More tangibly, the next Sprinter will include the “comprehensive introduction of driving assistance systems and connectivity services”, as well as a new telematics system, which is said to “bring a leap forward in efficiency for vehicle and fleet management”.

The new Sprinter will be available in a “considerably extended range of variants”, presumably including a variety body heights, lengths and wheelbases.

In what promises to be a long teaser campaign, Mercedes-Benz is promising to release further details in the lead up to the van’s launch some time in the first half of 2018.

Since its debut in 1995, Mercedes-Benz has sold 3.3 million Sprinter vans. Unlike the second-generation Sprinter, the new van is being designed and engineered in-house by Mercedes-Benz, as such it won’t share a platform with the Volkswagen Crafter.

The latest independently developed Crafter made its debut in June 2016, and is scheduled to go on sale locally later this year.
