2007-12 Mitsubishi Outlander recalled for wiper fix

Mitsubishi has issued a recall for 46,263 examples of its previous-generation 2007 to 2012 model-year ‘ZG’ and ‘ZH’ Outlander SUVs over concerns the windscreen wipers could rust and stop working.

The manufacturer reports that the structure of the vehicle’s front deck allows water intrusion into the wiper motor, which could cause it to rust or seize.

If the condition occurs, the wipers may become inoperative, reducing visibility and posing a hazard to the driver.

Affected Outlander vehicles were sold from 21 November 2006 through 28 February 2013. The VIN ranges for these units can be viewed here.

Owners of the recalled models will be contacted by Mitsubishi Australia once parts become available, and advised to visit their local dealer to have the front wiper motor replaced.
