Mazda has issued a recall for 705 vehicles across its 2016 and 2017 Mazda 2 and CX-3 model lines, over concerns damaged brake hose clips could cause a fluid leak.
The Japanese manufacturer reports a manufacturing fault may have damaged the surface finish on the brake hose clips during installation.
If the condition occurs, the brake hose clips could rust and break, which may cause brake fluid to leak. If a leak occurs, this could reduce the vehicle’s braking performance.
Affected units by model are as follows:
Mazda 2 hatch – 185 vehicles
Mazda 2 sedan – 206 vehicles
Mazda CX-3 – 314 vehicles
The recalled Mazdas were available for sale from 13 June 2016 through 26 May 2017. A VIN list for these vehicles can be viewed here.
Owners will be contacted by Mazda Australia via mail, and will be advised to contact their local dealer to arrange for the inspection and repair of the Mazda 2 or CX-3 free of charge.
