The all-new 2018 Renault Megane RS will make its first public appearance at this year’s Monaco Formula One Grand Prix on May 26 ahead of its official reveal at the Frankfurt motor show in September, the company has confirmed.

Oddly, Renault hasn’t said whether the Monaco debut will fully reveal the new hot hatch, though it has confirmed the Megane RS will sport a yellow and black livery – Renault Sport’s signature colours – marking the company’s 40th anniversary of Formula One involvement.

It will be driven by Renault Sport Racing F1 driver Nico Hülkenberg around the famous street track on Friday, May 26.

The accompanying image of a camouflaged prototype gives a couple of hints as to what the new hot hatch will look like – including the more aggressive front bumper and tri-LED fog-lights which are shaped like chequered flags, a-la the updated Clio RS and Clio RS 16 concept.

Earlier this month an image of an undisguised RS’s rump surfaced online (above), showing a rear diffuser treatment with a centrally-mounted exhaust outlet.

Further details like what lies under the bonnet and whether the flagship Megane will offer a manual or dual-clutch transmission or both is yet to be announced.

Stay tuned to CarAdvice for an update at the end of the week, with more details to come closer to the Megane RS’s official reveal at the Frankfurt show in September.
