The limited-run 2018 Nissan GT-R Track Edition has been revealed for the US market ahead of the New York motor show next week, along with a one-off Copzilla police car.
GT-R Track Edition
Joining the 370Z Heritage Edition, the latest GT-R Track Edition (top) sits between the GT-R Premium and the flagship GT-R Nismo, and features numerous Nismo components.
Headlining features include additional adhesive bonding to increase body shell rigidity, four-wheel independent suspension with Nismo tuning, Nismo-spec tyres, 20-inch Nismo alloy wheels, carbon-fibre rear spoiler, a unique red and black interior colour scheme and leather-appointed Recaro sports seats.
Under the bonnet is the same 419kW/632Nm twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 as the GT-R Premium, mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters.
No performance figures are quoted, so it’s likely the Track Edition retains the 2.7-second 0-100km/h sprint claim and top speed of 315km/h.
GT-R ‘Copzilla’
Meanwhile, Nissan has also created a stylised police car based on the GT-R, which it has appropriately named ‘Copzilla’.
Sporting a matte-black police livery for the ‘Skyline Metro Police Department’, Copzilla features contrasting gold stripes, proper police lights on the roof and front grille, a scrolling LED light bar, along with ‘Skyline Metro’ badges on the bonnet and door panels.
Adjustable coilover suspension has been installed to give the vehicle a ‘stanced’ look, while the GT-R’s standard wheels have been replaced with 22-inch units, complete with spikes, that imitate the look of steel.
Copzilla’s heart is the same powerplant as the ‘standard’ GT-R, which is a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 pumping out 419kW of power and 632Nm of torque.
Both the GT-R Track Edition and GT-R Copzilla will be on display at the New York motor show, which kicks off on April 14.
