The new Lincoln Navigator, inspired by last year’s concept car, has been unveiled at the 2017 New York motor show.

Based on the latest Ford Expedition, and using underpinnings derived from the Ford F-150 pickup truck, the new Navigator has an aluminium body that’s said to be around 90kg lighter than the old model’s.

Motivation comes from a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine with 336kW of power, and tied to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine is probably shared with the F-150 Raptor, which boasts 691Nm of torque.

Among the SUV’s available features are ambient interior lighting, an illuminated grille badge, a panoramic roof, speed-sensitive adaptive headlights, a cargo management system for the boot, wireless phone charging, 12.0-inch configurable instrument display, adaptive cruise control, surround view camera system, and trailer backup assist.

As far as entertainment goes, the Navigator can be had with 10.0-inch screens built into the front seat backs, and a 20-speaker Revel Ultima sound system. Wi-Fi connectivity, a Sync 3 infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all standard.

Throughout the cabin there are six USB ports, four 12V outlets, and a single 110V plug.
