Mitsubishi has issued a recall for 19,131 of its ‘NS’ and ‘NT’ Pajero 4x4s sold between 2006 and 2010 as part of the ongoing Takata airbag scandal.
In this latest notice, the affected vehicles may be fitted with a front passenger airbag inflator that could release metallic fragments when deployed in the event of a collision.
The condition poses a significant risk of injury, even death, to vehicle occupants.
Pajeros sold from 30 November 2006 through 15 November 2010 are affected by the notice. VIN ranges for these models can be viewed here.
Owners of the recalled off-roaders will be contacted by Mitsubishi Australia once replacement parts become available, and will be advised to present their vehicle to their local vehicle for repairs.

It’s the second time the Pajero has been recalled for Takata inflators in seven months, with the last notice affecting 57,000 2007-2016 models fitted with faulty driver’s side airbags – meaning some vehicles may be asked back for a second time within a year with this latest fault.
